An Unorthodox Lunar New Year

The looming darkness outside marks the end of the second day of the Lunar New Year celebration (means Chinese New Year-lah). My nineteenth, to be exact. Am I getting more callous about it by any chance? Er...nope. In fact, I wished I do not need to return to mundane college this coming Sunday!

Alright, back to Chinese New Year. You know how important reunion dinner can be, right? It's like the most important dinner of the year or something like that. Sons and daughters from all over the place (some from all over the world also) flocking back into their nests - a place where they have been calling home for, well, at least most of their childhoods. Cousins, second cousins or so - all gathered under one roof - gambling away all their ang pows while gossiping around. Oh, and also aunties who simply could not control the temptation to sai meng or showing off...like this:

Auntie A: Aiya, 10A only ar my son...but already the best in his school.
Auntie B: Not bad what...my daughter, aiya, little bit more can get 14A...but no luck, only got 13A 1B

Oops, sorry for the digression. Unorthodox number one. Here goes:

For my nineteenth Chinese New Year celebration, not only did I have a reunion dinner, I also have a reunion lunch in the last day of the Year of Rat. That's what I called unorthodox. I mean, reunion lunch? Hello??!

It's my Dad's idea - I just forgot how creative my Dad can get sometimes. Haha. Another reason for me to love him more =) (I can only say this here because I'm too shy to do it in the real world lor...LoL) For this occasion, Mum and grandmother whipped up some vegetarian dishes to fill up those groaning tummies. Somehow, they tasted so much better than all those that I have had for the past eighteen years!!! *muka gasping* Wei, I meant the dishes-lah, not my Mum and grandmother ok??! cis

Unorthodox number two:

I have just returned from dinner at KFC wtf. Lol...KFC on the second day of New Year??? I'll upload the picture later...

Unorthodox number three:

For this ajuma-sshi, perhaps it's nothing special to celebrate two important festivals on the same day. But for me, I can smell the unorthodoxy miles away =)

Oops, wrong picture! I'm not the ajuma-lah

The real ajuma

Ajuma LAI SHEN-LY, saeng-ill chuka hamnida and a happy eighteenth birthday! May the Lord grants you all the energy and passion that you'll need to brace through the tough months ahead. And of course, for Mr. Ian to sayang you more...ish...

Wishing someone's birthday on Chinese New Year. Ish, totally unorthodox-lor.

More unorthodoxy? Err...
